Its type section is in the AA1-59 well – at 282315N and 191748E (Tawadros, 2001).

Lithology and Thickness
The upper unit of the formation is about 60m thick, and is made up of dark grey, very clayey calcilutites with some shale interbeds. The lower part (101m thick) is dark grey to black shales with occasional thin calcareous stringers (Tawadros, 2001).

Lower contact
It conformably overlies the Dahra Fm.
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Zelten Fm of the Jabal Zelten Gr.
